WHAT WE DO

We hire out:
  • Kayaks, canoes and rafting equipment to groups for water activities who have their own Safety Framework  (see definition). For example Canoe Clubs, Scouts, Guides, water sport businesses etc.

  • Our multi-use classroom / workshop to individuals, families or groups for land based activities eg courses, training events, meetings, parties, barbecues etc.


We do not provide:
  • Canoeing, kayaking or rafting sessions or hire out equipment directly to:
- individuals or families
- groups without their own Safety Framework.

  • Training/Safety Courses. Organisations that wish to use our Centre for water activities will need to arrange their own courses as appropriate.


CHARGES 2026
The following charges apply for 2026:

Hire of kayak / canoe / raft:
  • Youth groups eg schools, cadets, scouts, guides etc:
    > £8.75 / session per person for adhoc bookings
    > £6.75 / session per person for regular bookings eg a 6 week course.
  • Non youth groups eg commercial hiring:
    > £14.50 / session per person

Hire of accommodation:
  • Any hirer:
    > £21 per session

Sessions times:
  • 9.00am - 1.00pm
  • 1.30pm - 5.30pm
  • 6.00pm - 10:00pm

NB - Discounted rates are available for regular / bulk bookings. Please ask for details when you contact us.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Basic terms and conditions:
  1. Session times include time to setup and clear away.
  2. Groups hiring kayaks, canoes and rafts must sign up to a Service Agreement and provide evidence of a suitable Safety Framework.
  3. Instructors are not included in any water activity session charges.
  4. Charges for water activity sessions includes use of the centres changing rooms, buoyancy aids, paddles, spray decks etc.

AIMS
The aim of the Deben Water Sports Centre (DWSC) is to provide a facility for groups to access the waterfront at Woodbridge.

SAFETY FRAMEWORK
Any hirer that wishes to undertake water-based activities using Centre equipment and kit, locally or away from the Centre, must operate under their own Safety Framework which will be referenced in a signed Service Agreement. The Safety Framework will need to be subject to the responsibilities put on it by a recognised body such as PaddlesportUK, The Scout Association, Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA)  etc
